Waste Management and Circular Economy

OJR promotes the effective use of resources by preventing pollution by properly managing waste and hazardous substances and encouraging recycling. OJR measures the weight of waste, including the waste under its management. OJR guides and supervises property management (PM) and building management (BM) companies to ensure the appropriate preparation and implementation of plans.

Dependence and Impact on Natural Capital

We strive to protect the environment by considering biodiversity and ecosystems. Biodiversity refers to the rich diversity of various living organisms and their interconnections. This biodiversity provides significant natural benefits to people but is currently declining globally. OJR recognizes that efforts to maintain biodiversity contribute to sustaining nature’s benefits and that forming a nature-harmonized society is a critical theme. For example, at Hotel Universal Port, sustainable seafood is introduced to contribute to sustainable fisheries. Amid concerns over the depletion of fishery resources and environmental issues from offshore aquaculture, sustainable seafood produced by environmentally friendly fishing and aquaculture is used.

Protection of Water Resources

OJR protects water resources. At SAPPORO BRICK CUBE, groundwater is used for toilet flushing and hot and cold water for air conditioning to conserve water. Similarly, at the Naha Shin-Toshin Center Building, Naha City recycled water is used for toilet flushing and irrigation (landscaping) to conserve water. (In Okinawa Prefecture, the geographic characteristics make it difficult for water to accumulate, and municipalities actively promote water conservation.)
